Is There a Connection Between Doing Things and Happiness?

This is a question I asked myself a long time ago. Is there a connection between happiness and doing things? For example, is there a connection between going to work every day and happiness, or volunteering and happiness, or cleaning the bathroom and happiness? I think there is until… doing the things takes over your life.
