Taco Bell Made a Mistake Initially

I’ve been reading various stories online and in different blogs that it’s been an open secret since last year that Taco Bell is bringing back the popular item to the menu after making the mistake of removing it in the first place.

I was one of those people who were very upset when they removed the item. I even boycotted the restaurant for a while because of the perceived slight. I didn’t eat at Taco Bell for at least 8 months after they removed the item from the menu.

Something Saucy

The app is now teasing all of us with a message that just says, “Something saucy is coming 5/19,” with little to no other context for this new promotion. This is most likely the date that the popular item will return. It’s the only thing that makes sense for sauce unless they’re releasing a line of new sauces we don’t know about yet.

Attempting to Replace the Original

I’ve seen people cooking up their own variations and style of the Mexican Pizza at home in the absence of the original at Taco Bell. Obviously, this creation is neither Mexican nor truly pizza but it’s a creation that was innovative and is worth trying at least once in your life.

Popular, Customizable Item

I had a friend growing up who would try different combinations on his Mexican Pizza and double up on many of the important ingredients to customize the flavor for his own palate. I’m looking to do this when Taco Bell brings back possibly my favorite item of theirs of all time.

Manufacturing Additional Demand

I assume that they took this away on purpose knowing how many people loved this classic item. I know that they were trying to rebrand their menu but removing that item lost a lot of fans. I know I wasn’t the only one who stopped eating at their restaurants for a while after the change.

I think they wanted to artificially create a higher demand for the product so that when they did decide to bring it back, it would be more profitable for them than before. It’s a business tactic that is smart and strategic but can backfire and earn that company some backlash and make them lose any goodwill they had previously had.

Taco Bell Needs this To Be a Success

It’s too early to tell only being in November 2020 when they removed it. Hopefully, the year and a half away haven’t made people lose interest in the menu item or in the company itself.

Taco Bell has made a lot of questionable business decisions lately and if they continue to make bad ones, it won’t end well. I’m just saying that no company is too big to fail and this could sink their brand if they don’t successfully bring customers back with this promotion.

They need this 5/19 expected surprise to be the Mexican pizza release. They need this to be a promotion that will attract old business again. I know the pandemic has affected all aspects of the fast-food industry.

Taking this Upcoming Promotion to the Bank and Rising Out of the Pandemic

More people are choosing to stay home and if they do order fast food, they’re having it delivered.

Taco Bell wasn’t the first choice for many people during the pandemic as their delivery prices are the highest out of all of the fast-food restaurants and their prices have continued to rise, even at a greater pace than many of their competitors.

The return of the Mexican Pizza isn’t going to have to just be the return of a popular menu item, it’s going to have to be a return of the Taco Bell that we’ve grown to trust and love over the years. Taco Bell, at this point, is banking their future on 5/19.
