Ladies, you are used to having reproductive rights. You took them for granted. And now, you have to wise up. You’re no longer privileged like your male counterparts in America. Your rights do not matter.
According to the “highest” *clears throat* court and most republican lawmakers, you are irrelevant; only your womb matters. As I have, some of you have enjoyed reproductive freedom your entire lives. But the reality is that you don’t anymore, and it will get worse before it gets better. (Yes, I realize blue states still have reproductive healthcare, but if some women are oppressed in America, we all are).
This isn’t a drill. When we commented on our situation being similar to life in Gilead, that we were hurtling towards life akin to The Handmaid’s Tale, we weren’t trying to be funny. We weren’t kidding.
We weren’t being hyperbolic.
We still aren’t.
We are being realistic.
This isn’t a drill.
It’s the new reality for women in America. Especially those in red states.
