Dear Death,

eight times you nearly claimed me
sucked the marrow from these bones
left me exhausted and alone

I could have easily joined you
so many times I tried
nearly ripped away by Sue-icide

I know she’s your greatest ally
all those souls to easily claim
those in utter despair and shame

yes, I was once that desperate
but not anymore
kindly move along, leave my door

signed,
grateful to be alive

— — — —

Dear grateful,

your days are still numbered
eventually you will be mine
I am patient and have the time

signed,
Death
