I come to you, bare and bleeding
begging for just one moment of recognition
but your eyes are black hollows

you’ve reverted back to Neanderthal
grunts and gestures, stoic rhetoric
only the act of war seems to turn you on

emotions have lost their battle with you
beaten and battered by your frigid fist
left scattered on the battlefield, dying and dead

you sold your heart so…
