Positioned
A bird of prey in action
Today I am a Heron —
Standing in lucid stillness
Poised, positioned
in search of prey
My head tilts left, then right
calculating, compensating
for reflection — one long leg stirs
ever so gently — flushing
I crouch, wings open
a shaded canopy, bill dipped
to spear — now here you are
my prey, captive
as I’ve penned poetry
