A Free Verse Poem — Spending Time with Nature

We make blankets out of moon beams
and cradle our heads among the stars
As the last embers of fire flickers and dies
we sleep upon the mountain’s back

When morning arrives, we pull on sun rays
and trek down the mountain
We dance with the river — weaving about
and gently caress it in the palms of our hands

At Midday, we roll patches of wildflowers
into pillows and curl into the mountain’s belly
We watch as clouds smile for us
until nature’s song lulls us into an afternoon nap

Evening comes and ends our trip
we pack our gear into the truck
and toss nature back to the mountain
like a painting for someone else’s delight
