Currently, in their season, the volleyball teams at Sci-Tech High School have had their shares of wins and losses. But, as they often say, it isn’t over until it’s over.

Joshua Patrick, the captain of the boys’ varsity team and a senior, commented, “The recent games were competitive. Our losses primarily stemmed from communication issues.” This sentiment seems to be echoed across all teams. They acknowledge the need to enhance team communication but also emphasize the strides they’ve made since the season’s inception.

The players stress the importance of communication during games. “It’s crucial to put ourselves in each other’s shoes and keep the lines of communication open,” they shared.

While performance in matches is crucial, players often have personal motivations for joining the team. Some relish the thrill of the sport, while others see it as an outlet to vent, channeling their frustrations into powerful serves and spikes.

When asked about their opinions on team captains,Dashel, a sophomore, remarked that her captains are “genuinely kind yet assertive.” She spoke highly of the team’s captain, saying, “She knows how to motivate us to push our limits.”

Describing her role as a libero, Dashel highlighted the need for swift reflexes and the ability to spring into action immediately.

Daisy, a senior on the varsity team, offered insights into the diverse roles on the court. “Every position has its unique challenges,” she said. Nevertheless, she genuinely enjoys her current role and finds being a part of the volleyball team invigorating.

The consensus among players is that being on the team is a rewarding experience, blending fun with a commitment to the sport. Every captain, echoing Joshua Patrick’s sentiment, believes there’s more room for growth. The team has not yet reached its pinnacle.

In sum, the volleyball players at Sci-Tech High School are deeply passionate about their sport and aim to harness their full potential in upcoming matches. Let’s rally behind our players and cheer them on for the remainder of the season!
