At the tender age of 12, a mentor sparked Ms. Weddel’s passion for theater, leading her to dream of becoming a director. She is deeply drawn to the world of theater for its boundless creativity, the art of set design, and the thrill of acting.

Though this is her first year teaching theater at Sci Tech High, Ms. Weddels’ foundation in theater education was laid in her hometown of Houston.

Her teaching philosophy is built on mutual respect and admiration for her students. She genuinely enjoys hearing their innovative ideas and relishes the joy-filled smiles they bring to every performance.

Ms. Weddel's academic journey in theater took her to college in San Marcos, where she was immersed in a comprehensive theater education program. Out of all the facets of theater, she has a particular fondness for acting. She cherishes the opportunity to guide students in honing their acting skills, encouraging them to bring creativity and passion to every role.

Her own theatrical tastes are diverse, ranging from taking on roles in musical theaters to the sublime notes of singing opera. For Ms. Weddel, teaching theater is not merely a job but a vocation.

She adores being around students, as it allows her to be her authentic self. Even on challenging days, her love for theater shines through, reminding everyone of the undying passion she’s held since childhood.

Among her favorite tools of the trade, Ms. Weddel frequently uses monologues to teach. She believes that if something goes amiss in a performance, the right monologue can set it straight.
