Every Thursday, room P302 at STHS is transformed into a battlefield of wits and strategy, as scholars gather for the Board Games Club.

Led by history teacher Mr. Cole, the club offers students a chance to learn new games, compete for prizes, and simply have fun.

“Playing board games offers students the opportunity to learn something new in a fun environment,” Mr. Cole remarked.

Every Thursday, the club convenes in room P302, where scholars eagerly select from an array of board games. The selection rotates weekly, ensuring fresh challenges and continued engagement.

“Throughout the semester, students earn points by competing in these games. By its end, these points can be redeemed for grand prizes,” explained Mr. Cole. Prizes range from simple poker decks to high-end gaming consoles.

While any student can join the club, succeeding in games like chess and checkers demands skill. Yet, this ensures everyone has an equal shot at the prizes. Mr. Cole ardently invites all students to participate.

Club regulars, including Talan Gutierrez, Ruben Garza, and Richard Avila, find the club enjoyable and encourage their peers to join. “I’d definitely recommend it,” commented Junior, Talan Gutierrez.

It’s not all about the prizes; many students join purely for the joy of the game, indifferent to points or awards.

In Mr. Cole’s words, “If you’re eyeing that grand prize, now’s the time to jump in and start racking up those points.” He added, “Currently, Juelz Banks tops the leaderboard. So, challenge him, best him, and claim your victories!”
