Rhithm’s check in allows teachers and school officials to check in on how scholars are doing and to help them succeed through the day.

STHS resumed daily use of the social-emotional learning (SEL) platform Rhithm for student morning check-ins on Tuesday, August 15th.

Scholars now complete the brief check-in before their first period class on A days and fifth period class on B days.

What is Rhithm?

Rhithm, which debuted at STHS two years ago, allows students to share their emotional state and well-being each morning.

The goal is to ensure STHS Ravens feel safe and ready to learn. After entering class, students log into Rhithm to indicate their mood and share any concerns.

Teachers are available to assist scholars in completing the check-in, which is a daily expectation for all scholars.

What does the research about Rhithm Say?

According to a recent study titled “Get in Rhithm: Providing Evidence-Based Interventions to Empower Student Self-Regulation Skills and Well-being”, Rhithm was designed through a collaborative “codesign” process involving mental health experts and school-based practitioners.

This allowed for incorporating evidence-based practices into the platform to effectively meet the needs of schools and scholars.

The study found Rhithm delivers short, engaging video lessons to provide students with concrete self-regulation strategies aligned with therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

The algorithm customizes video recommendations based on each student’s daily check-in. Rhithm helps equip scholars with skills typically gained through individual counseling while providing schools with real-time data on student wellbeing.

Why at STHS?

According to school officials, Rhithm provides a simple way to monitor scholar social-emotional health and intervene early with those who may be struggling. STHS joins a growing number of schools nationwide integrating SEL into the school day to support student well-being and academic success.
