I don’t think anyone wants to be rendered homeless and I also don’t think any landlord wants his family to starve because their only source of income is not happening this year.

So you’ve compromised to have an apartment that’s just right but with this current economy, you’re not sure you can pay it this time. Don’t worry. As long as you do these things 5 before it’s too late, you’ll be just fine.

1. Take Up Extra Work

We can’t stress this enough! There’s a high chance you won’t get a raise but there’s a better chance of you taking extra work. Write out 10 things you can do right now and engage yourself.

2. Review How Much You’re Paying
You’re renewing your rent so that means you know what living there is like. Is it still worth it? If you think you’re paying too much then it’s time to move. Since you’re comfortable around, look for spaces around.

3. Attitude Matters
Be nice. If you feel like being nice is you going out of your way, don’t cause any trouble at least. Take care of the house like you built it and be polite. If your landlord likes you, it could go a long way in your next rent.

4. Automate It
A lot of our local banks have services that deduct a certain amount of money every month, from your account. This is especially helpful if you know yourself very well.

5. Do.Not.Gamble
There’s that temptation to try to quickly double what you have to make up your next rent. First of all, that’s a sign that you’re paying more than you can afford. Stay away from these schemes. They do more harm than good.

You don’t need to go cheap to get it.

In addition, you can track the ins and outs of money in your account. Not only will you be able to monitor your spending, you’ll also be able to tell where it’s excessive. 3k here and 5k there will go a long way when it’s time to pay your rent. Your landlord will not take a kobo less.
