I derive inspiration for my art from some of the weirdest damn places, man.

Maybe it’s symptomatic of a keen and curious mind or just some kind of useful brain damage, but if something bizarre makes me want to create like a god gone mad, I can’t really complain.

Today, I’m gonna share some of the ways in which everyone’s favorite shouty culinarian from Merrie Olde England inspires my creative process, and how they should inspire yours, too.

He gets excited about every step of the process

“Season it beautifully…”

“Once the tomato skins blister, the whole tomato just starts to release that really nice, sweet texture…”

“And what we’re doing now is turning this into a beautiful escalope…”

Watch any of Gordon Ramsay’s cooking tutorials and notice how even the simplest action in the kitchen thrills him. Whether it’s slicing tomatoes or heating up a cast iron frying pan or shaping puff pastry, he celebrates every stage of the cooking process as if his birthday had sex with Christmas at the very moment.
