What was a reported move just a couple of days ago became an official move on Wednesday afternoon — Bobby Rainey is, once again, a Baltimore Raven.

Rainey, who was signed by Baltimore to begin his professional career as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and has totaled just over 1,000 career rushing yards in 61 games. He spent a majority of his final days in Tampa, and a majority of his one year in New York with the Giants, as a kick returner.

Between his 2015 season in Tampa and last year with the G-Men, Rainey has gotten just 22 touches from scrimmage.

The Ravens are in dire need of running back help — Terrence West and Kenneth Dixon essentially split RB1 duties last year, and Dixon is now out for the 2017 season after suffering an injury. (If Dixon was a-okay to play in ’17, he’d have had to sit for the first four games due to breaking the NFL’s substance abuse policy.)

As a team last year, Baltimore rushed for less than 1,500 yards. It, at the very worst, can’t hurt to see if Rainey still has some mileage left in him to work out of the backfield, even if he’s a solid RB2 behind the incumbent West.

How do you feel about Rainey finding a new home in his first professional stop? Do you think he’ll help the Ravens’ back field? Can he turn in a decent season even though he hasn’t played but 22 downs in two years? Let us know in a comment below, on Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
