Former Hilltopper linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe has been drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Iggy, a product of South Warren High School, will now be heading to the windy city to be the newest member of the Bears and our newest #ProTops player in the NFL. Most of this was made possible because of the record-setting year he had last season.

Iggy had a career year in 2017, posting career bests in solo tackles (54), assisted tackles (63) and total tackles (117), as well as tackles for loss (11.5) and forced fumbles (2) and was a vital player on WKU’s defense, especially after the loss of TJ McCollum to Purdue.

The Bears have always been known for their star-studded linebackers and even though they drafted Roquan Smith from Georgia #8 overall in this year’s draft, that provides some good competition in the offseason and another talented player for Iggy to learn with.

So far, Iggy has been the only Topper to hear his named called in the 2018 draft and all of Bowling Green is definitely proud to see one of their own see their dreams come true.
