Former Hilltopper quarterback Mike White has been drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 171st pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

It’s awesome to see White get drafted, but it’s kind of a disappointing situation for him to be in. Dak Prescott is considered to be the long-term QB of the future for the Cowboys, so it appears we’ll be in the same boat as we were with Brandon Doughty where he’ll probably be on the practice squad for a few years and wont be able to overtake the QB job.

Having said that, Dallas has been known for having a stellar offensive line, which is what White will need to succeed in the NFL.

Of all the potential landing spots we heard for White, this one is kind of out of nowhere. But best of luck to him as he’s headed to America’s Team.

White took over the reigns after Brandon Doughty left the Hill, and started 27 games for the Tops, totaling 8,540 yards with a 66.4% completion percentage for 63 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

The Florida native posted career numbers in completion percentage (67.3%), passing yards (4,363) and touchdowns (37) in his junior year, which just so happened to correspond with the final year of Jeff Brohm being on the Hill.
