It’s one of the most exciting times on the sports calendar year and I don’t care how cheesy it is to say that. There’s just something about the NFL Draft, especially as someone who covers a collegiate team with eligible prospects, that makes it so damn exciting and entertaining and intriguing and all the other buzz words you want to throw out.

So, in the spirit of the NFL Draft beginning tonight, we asked for your bold predictions and we actually got a couple!

If you’ve read this here internet space before, you know what I’m going to say about that Mike White prediction — and yes, it’s very bold. I think that Iggy prediction is actually spot on: He’s a guy that should be going late third or early fourth, but wont actually get selected until mid fifth, at best.

Now THAT is the stuff I’m looking for. Bold. Well, the second round thing. Not going to the Saints thing. Mel Kiper thinks the same thing that New Orleans might view White as the next-in-line after Drew Brees rides off into the sunset.

The most specific bold predictions will have! And my god, these are super duper specific. At least, on White’s end. Iggy going to Pittsburgh makes a lot of sense, and you can tell MSTD is going all homery by wanting Yelder to go to Green Bay (although it wouldn’t be the first time the Pack enlisted their trust in a Tops’ tight end).

I have to apologize to Rick for something — we got in a short (but friendly) spat on Twitter regarding this prediction: His sentiment is bold, but this tweet in my mind doesn’t quite do it justice.

The fact that he thinks White will go a.) to New England or b.) in the sixth round, to me, isn’t what’s bold. What is bold is the next logical step, and that he’ll not only become the next-in-line for Tom Brady, but will have just as much success when he does make that jump.

So to you, Rick, I apologize for being too hasty on the tweets machine, and I applaud your pick. As a Pats hater, it’ll be hard to pull for White, but it’d be great to see him have even an ounce of the success TB12 has had.

Some of my bold predictions for this weekend are as follows:

  • At the earliest, White goes mid-third round and will go to an actually decent situation for him, where he could have a shot to compete for a starting job in two years or so.
  • Iggy will go in the mid-fifth round and will immediately compete for time on the field.
  • At least one more Topper will get picked, and it’ll come in the seventh round. I want to say Nacarius Fant, but my gosh I really want to see Deon Yelder get selected. If he can land somewhere and have any sort of window to compete for a spot, he’s going to steal the show.
  • Aside from Yelder, I think Cameron Echols-Luper has the best shot to make the most immediate impact from any offensive player WKU might produce this draft.
  • Speaking of CEL, he unfortunately won’t get drafted. BUT he’ll very quickly sign as an undrafted free agent and will make a roster.
