As a WKU Alum and Fan, one of the biggest complaints that I get from people with WKU ties is that it’s much harder to follow the Toppers compared to your average Power 5 program. While I agree that’s the case comparatively, it’s not impossible to keep up with our team and there are many sources that are reliable, frequent and interesting. Obviously not everybody is on Twitter but if you ran into our website there is a high probability that you are on there. Here are 15 of the best accounts to follow as a WKU fan:

1) Chad Bishop - @MrChadBishop — WBKO’s Sports Insider - For most of the 2010’s, Chad has been one of the go to sources for WKU news. Moving over to WBKO a few years ago from the Bowling Green Daily News, Chad covers WKU like a beat writer but also will inject his opinions and shoot it straight down the middle. His Monday column and mid-week podcast (with Dominique Yates) are go to sources for WKU related opinions when finding other consistent coverage can often be frustrating

2) Brad Stephens- @BradBGDN — Current Primary WKU Men’s Basketball & Football beat writer for the BGDN, Brad is one of the few whose job it is to cover the happenings on the Hill daily. He’ll usually post breaking news, links to BG Daily news articles and some personal opinions.

3) The Towel Rack - @TheTowelRackWKU — The only (right now) consistent WKU fan blog online. The Towel Rack will hopefully become a primary source for WKU writing & opinion articles straight from the fan base for the fan base. Personally, we all hope this becomes the KSR or Card Chronicle of WKU where fans constantly check the site for WKU updates & fan perspective.

4) WKU Herald Sports - @wkuheraldsports — The WKU Student ran newspaper; The College Heights Herald has been the proving ground for various sports writers while at WKU. Alums include Jerry Brewer (Washington Post), Michael Casagrande (AL.com Bama writer), & Kyle Tucker (SEC County), not to mention countless other Alums in the sport media. The Herald’s account will post links to articles across the WKU sports spectrum and will occasionally break news.

5) Elliott Pratt - @EPrattBGDN - The Bowling Green Daily News primary beat writer for WKU women’s basketball, BG area high school and ancillary sports. Elliott sometimes fills in for Brad Stephens and will post various articles about Michelle Clark Heard’s squad. Usually this position has led to becoming the primary beat when the top writer inevitably moves on. (Ed. Note — Mr. Pratt is a good, personal friend of our Editor, Fletcher Keel.)

6) Michael McCammon - @mcmichael20 — The Owner of WKU Insider, WKU’s Scout recruiting site. Michael has become one of the go to writers when it comes to WKU recruiting news. He also runs the UofL scout site and you’ll often see some UofL in his feed but he has consistently posts WKU recruiting news, interviews, articles and a different perspective from the BGDN/WBKO.

7) Barstool Western - @BarstoolWestern - Formerly WKU Greek Humor, Barstool Western is a great source for funny WKU tweets (sports & more) from Students on campus. This account will post consistent pro WKU tweets, anti UK/UofL tweets, partying & general WKU commentary.

8) Mike Sanford - @CoachSanfordWKU - WKU’s new, young and media savvy Head football coach. He’ll often post relevant information about program, like/retweet recruits and generally showcase the new program in ways that you won’t often see from other FBS head coaches.

9) Todd Stewart - @ToddStewartWKU - WKU’s great athletic director. He’ll often retweet the happenings of the program across all sports and will interact with fans and offer a perspective from inside the athletic department.

10) WKU Rivals - @WKU_Rivals - WKU’s Rivals site. They recently came back from a hiatus to break recruiting news and also write great feature content, including this piece about WKU’s storied basketball history.

11) Dominique Yates - @RealDYates - Chad Bishop’s TV reporter colleague at WBKO. Dominique will often do ancillary stories and post things that Chad doesn’t often get to. He also has a weekly podcast with Chad that is often informative and interesting.

12) Underdog Dynasty - @underdogdynasty - SB Nation’s Group of 5 football website. Will frequently post WKU/C-USA specific material. (Ed. Note — Editor Fletcher Keel used to be a contributor to Underdog Dynasty.)

13) Mid-Major Madness - @mid_madness - SB Nation’s Mid Major Basketball website. With the way that Stansbury has recruited they should drastically up their WKU content for the foreseeable future. (Ed. Note — Editor Fletcher Keel used to be a contributor to Mid-Major Madness.)

14) CUSAbbs - @CUSAbbs - A Conference USA-specific fan forum twitter, they retweet relevant news about all of the programs across Conference USA. They are a great source to keep up with the comings and goings within Western’s conference.

15) Moonshine Throwdown - @MoonShineTD — The Rivalry twitter account for WKU & Marshall. They offer a fun football centric perspective not only on WKU but our newly found rival in C-USA. They also record a solid podcast called the Shiner Sitdown and constantly post news about both programs and will debate/interact with fans across both team.

Hopefully these accounts will scratch the itch of trying to find more news about our beloved Hilltopper program. Please let us know if we missed any good ones and be sure to follow @TheTowelRackWKU at least. Go Tops!
