WKU Basketball has been searching for another quality nonconference opponent for weeks now to no avail. That changed Monday afternoon as it was announced that the Alabama Crimson Tide has been added to the schedule

WKU will travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday at 1 PM CT on SEC Network+. The Tide are currently 3–2 on the season and ranked #51 in the Kenpom. They have wins over Jacksonville State, UNLV & Providence with losses to Stanford & Clemson. Kudos to the Crimson Tide for doing what some many other teams have failed to do and schedule a game against a dangerous Hilltopper squad.

This a great chance for WKU to pick up one more top 100 win in the non conference and solidify an at-large worthy resume prior to conference play. Wins over Northern Iowa, Memphis, and Rhode Island were a good start but after Alabama WKU’s opportunities for resume-building wins are scarce as Conference USA has just three teams in the Kenpom top 100 (Marshall, WKU & UAB who CUSA didn’t schedule a matchup with the Hilltoppers this season).

WKU is 0–2 all time against Bama with the last game coming in the 1989 San Juan Shootout a 72–79 Loss. We can’t wait to see if the Hilltoppers can put a cherry on their non conference resume. Stay tuned for more coverage of Saturday’s big game.
