Jake Ohmer, known for his heroic run in the state tournament last year, has a chance to contribute to the Tops this season.

Ohmer’s comes to the Tops via Scott High School in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. He averaged 27.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game his senior year, which proves his ability to score, but don’t expect him to put up those numbers against college athletes.

He was an all-state selection and competed in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Classic Series and the KABC East-West All-Star Game.

Standing 6'1" and 170 pounds, Jake Ohmer will be the main shooter for the Tops this year. He will see some floor time due to lack of depth, but it’ll be bad news if he’s averaging close to or (god forbid) over 20 minutes a night. Expect him to see a lot of late game action if we are losing and in need of a three.

On the defensive end, Ohmer lacks. He’ll have to work on his defensive ability if he wants to see an increase in playing time.

All in all, Jake Ohmer is a little too young to be a key part of the Hilltoppers team this year. If Stansbury’s recruiting class falls a bit flat (especially compared to this past year’s class, Mitchell Robinson or nah), I expect Ohmer to have a significant role next year.

Projected Season Statline

PPG: 5.6
RPG: 3.4
APG: 1.2
SPG: 0.6
BPG: 0.3

How do you expect Ohmer’s season to unfold? Are we undervaluing his role on the team or what he brings to the floor? Let us know in a comment below, via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
