After getting a JUCO transfer forward a couple of weeks ago, coach Rick Stansbury gets a commitment from a 6’8 forward from Maryland in Jairus Hamilton.

Hamilton was a 4 star recruit coming out of his high school in Charlotte, NC according to ESPN and Scout and originally went to Boston College and played there for 2 years before transferring to the Terps.

He averaged 6.5 points and 2.4 rebounds last season with Maryland and has averaged 7 points and 3.5 rebounds for his college career and has started in 33 games.

Getting someone with Power 5 playing time will definitely help the Tops next season. They’ve been pretty thin in the frontcourt with playing experience so getting someone of his size and caliber, he could definitely become a core player in coach Stansbury’s rotation, if not start at the four (that is if coach doesn’t go with four guards and a center).

Things are finally rolling a little bit on the recruiting front for the Tops next season so be sure to give us a follow on Facebook and Twitter for more updates.
