Western Kentucky drop to 7–3 in C-USA play as they lose out on their road trip to Florida with today’s loss against FIU (6–4 in C-USA), 81–76.

One of the biggest things that went wrong for the Tops today was their defense and inability to stop FIU big man Osasumwen Osaghae who had 22 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks on 10-of-13 shooting (most of them dunks or easy putbacks) as FIU shot 53% from the court.

The Tops were led by Jared Savage who had 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting (3-of-7 from deep) while Williams and Hollingsworth both scored 15 points. One of the biggest issues offensively for WKU was that their bench didn’t score a single point. Jeremiah Gambrell and Isaiah Cozart were the only two players to come off the bench in the game with Camron Justice being injured.

FIU controlled most of this game but a late run from WKU with under four minutes to go made it a three point game and the Tops would get as close as two but couldn’t tie it up or take the lead late despite several good attempts.

WKU are now 14–8 overall and 7–3 in C-USA play and they will look to compete against one of the best teams in the conference on Thursday night as Louisiana Tech (currently 7–2 in C-USA) enter Diddle Arena for a blackout game.
