WKU Football: CUSA Media Picks Toppers To Three-Peat

It is preseason awards and media poll season at the C-USA Media Days in Irving Texas, and the “Beast of the East” is “keeping the train rolling,” at least in this part of the season. Y

esterday, C-USA released their preseason awards, where WKU quarterback Mike White won the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Award and kick returner Kylen Towner won the Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year Award.

In addition to the Preseason awards, C-USA also released their All-Conference Team. Again, several Hilltoppers were named on these teams. White and OL Brandon Ray were listed on the offensive side of the ball, while DL Chris Johnson and DB Joe Brown were listed on the defensive side of the ball. Punter Jake Collins, Towner and punt returner Nacarius Fant were all seleced for the All-Conference Special Teams. With seven Hilltoppers on the All-Conference Team, WKU has the most players on the C-USA All-Conference Team. The next closest team was Old Dominion, with four players.

This morning, the C-USA Media released their poll of who they think will win the East and West Divisions. The preseason prediction is that we’ll see a rematch between WKU and Louisiana Tech.

WKU won the East Division media poll with 20 of 28 votes. MTSU was picked second, with four first place votes, followed by ODU and Marshall, with three and one first place votes respectively. The remainder of the East predictions can be seen below.

LA Tech also won 20 of 28 first place votes, followed by UTSA with seven and Southern Miss with one. North Texas, Rice, UTEP and UAB rounded out the rest of the west.

This is the second time that WKU has been picked to win the C-USA East Division. They were picked to win the East in 2015, while they were picked to finish second (behind MTSU) last season.

What do you think? Will the Toppers repeat as the East Division champions? Or, will they be dethroned? Who would you have put on your All-Conference team? What would your preseason poll look like? Let us know in a comment below, on Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
