Last Week

WKU hosted FCS Chattanooga looking to snap their two game losing streak. The Mocs would jump out to a 7–0 lead on the opening drive as WKU’s offensive struggles continued. WKU trailed 7–3 at the half and would continue to play from behind into the 4th quarter despite the defense giving up only 225 total yards. Tyrrell Pigrome would relieve an injured Kevaris Thomas and lead the Tops on a 10 play 54 yard touchdown drive capped off on a 4th down pass to Craig Burt to take a 13–10 lead with 1:21 remaining. The Mocs would run back the ensuing kickoff but it was called off as the refs said that an upback waived a fair catch signal. The WKU defense would then respond with a turnover on downs and the Tops would escape with a controversial 13–10 Win to move to 2–4 on the 2020 season.

BYU hosted Texas State in Provo. After falling behind 7–0 early, the Cougars scored 49 straight points as they racked up 579 yards of total offense and cruised to a 52–14 victory to improve to 6–0 on the season.

Excitement Level — 5

I like most WKU fans are expecting the worst and hoping for the best against the #11 team in the nation. BYU should romp but the opportunity of a late-night game against a top team on ESPN makes the probable blow out worth watching at least early. If WKU ever wants to play like the 9–4 team we saw last season tonight would be a great time to see it. If we see a little progress and the team stays competitive, hopefully, they can use that as a springboard towards the last four games of the season.

Go Tops. We’ll be providing live coverage and reaction. If you’re in Provo for the game, please send us your tailgating and in-game pictures via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page and we’ll share.
