WKU Football receives 11 points in USA Today Poll

The Tops received the opening kickoff from FAU during last year’s homecoming contest.

After losing a program-redefining player, along with several key assets, WKU football should encounter a setback, right?

That’s what you’d think, but the preseason poll by USA Today thinks the Hilltoppers are stout enough to award them 11 points in their preseason Amway poll.

The 11 points received by the Tops leads the way for any C-USA squad, as WKU and Marshall (two points) were the only programs in the conference to make the cut.

If you’ll recall, the Tops were picked to finish third overall in the preseason C-USA poll behind Southern Miss and Marshall, but the Amway Coaches has that order flopped — WKU: 11, Marshall: 2, Southern Miss: None.

Prior to the 2015 season, WKU received just one point in the Associated Press poll before finishing the season at No. 24 in the nation. (Ed. note — despite winning 12 games, a conference title and a bowl win, that was the ONLY poll in which WKU was ranked.)

Seems like the Coaches poll is taking into account the potential of Jeff Brohm to have his Hilltoppers continuing their strides where they left off in South Beach.

The 11 points received in this year’s preseason poll is a program-high, so go ahead and write that down as another accolade for Brohm and company.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
