Monday, it was reported by the Knoxville News Sentinel and GoVols247 that former Tennessee running back Tim Jordan will be transferring to Western Kentucky to continue his academic and athletic career.

However, according to a source close to the WKU football program, this news is not true.

As GoVols247 reports, Jordan has one-season of eligibility remaining and, if he is to leave Tennessee, would need an NCAA waiver in order to be eligible for the 2020 campaign (if, in fact, there is one due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Jordan served as the Vols’ second-leading rusher in 2018, totaling 522 yards and three touchdowns on a team-best 132 touches, and the third-leading rusher in 2019, logging 428 yards and one touchdown.

His addition would have been huge for WKU’s running back depth behind 1200 yard rusher Gaej Walker. Whether it was Jordan’s legal troubles or other reasons, the Tops won’t be a possibility per our source.

Should we have a season in 2020, finding a suitable backup for Walker will be crucial. He accounted for 90% (241 attempts) of all rushing attempts out of the running back position in 2019.
