The Tops got their second commitment of the day on Sunday when three-star Florida quarterback Kevaris Thomas announced his intent to sign with the Tops.

Thomas is considered to be a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals, and chose WKU over Colorado State, FAU, FIU and South Florida among others.

Rivals lists him as a duel-threat QB, but as far as I can tell, he’s mobile just to create time for him to get rid of the ball. Oh, and he has a rocket of an arm.

With some luck, Thomas will become just another in the long line of successful QB’s to hail from the Sunshine State, with Kawaun Jakes, Brandon Doughty and Mike White all having been Florida products as well.

What you’ll find quickly about Thomas’ style is he only moves in the pocket once his first read becomes unavailable, but he’s not afraid to move and create time and space for him to find a target.

I can see why a guy like Thomas would struggle at the college level early, but he really excites me on tape. He joins an already crowded QB field who will be looking to win the starting job in 2018 and beyond (with the likely ’18 candidate, Drew Eckels, a senior for the season).

Thomas becomes the 24th commitment of the best recruiting class in Conference USA, and the first quarterback commit.
