Another day, another southern boy coming to the WKU football program.

Conway (South Carolina) High School offensive lineman Gunner Britton has announced he’s committed to the Tops.

Britton selected WKU over Eastern Michigan and Western Carolina, while schools such as App State, Charlotte, South Carolina and Vanderbilt were showing interest in him.

In a conversation with Michael McCammon at WKU Insider, Britton said he was recruited by Coach Spurrier and Coach Dart, and has a family connection to the school and program.

Britton is not ranked by Scout’s recruiting service, is considered to be a two-star recruit by Rivals and 247Sports and is listed as the 47th-best OL prospect in South Carolina.

While it’s easy to look at the low national composite rankings, it’s hard not to get excited about Britton’s potential with schools like App State, South Carolina and even Vanderbilt showing interest in him.

Sanford and the Tops’ coaching staff appears to be hitting the southeast hard, and that can only be for the best. The Tops already have four recruits from Florida and three from Georgia in the 2018 class, and if I know Sanford like I think I’m beginning to, I don’t believe he’s done in the Palmetto State.

What do you think about Britton’s commitment? Are you impressed with the success Sanford is having in the southeast? Let us know in a comment below, via twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
