Mike Sanford’s Twitter alert for a new commitment

Fresh off the heels of Fridays 35–31 victory over Old Dominion, the good vibes continued on Sunday afternoon as Mike Sanford and staff added to the top-ranked recruiting class in Conference USA by gaining the commitment of North Cobb (Kennesaw, GA) LB/RB Trey Urquhart.

Urquhart is 6'1", 200 pounds and ranked as a three-star prospect, according to Rivals. He chose the Hilltoppers over Tulane, Florida Atlantic, Appalachian State & MTSU. Here is his mid-season highlight video on Hudl.

Urquhart projects to be an outside linebacker at the next level. He has great speed with a 4.5 forty time, but might need some time in the weight room if he does indeed play linebacker. Urquhart should have the luxury of not being immediately needed next season since the Tops should return linebackers Iyiebuniwe, White, Holt and Cain next season. This should help his development and give him time to acclimate to the next level.

Urquhart continues WKU’s Peach State preference. He is the 10th commitment from Georgia, which is a top five recruiting state. Assistant coach Jimmy Lindsey continues to pay dividends when it comes to adding talent to WKU’s roster. WKU’s 2018 class is filling up quickly, Urquhart is the 22nd commitment in what is a top 10 G5 class right now. Say what you will about the coaching transition, but Sanford continues to get it done on the recruiting trail, which only makes the future that much brighter on the Hill.

What do you think of Urquhart’s commitment? How many spots are left in the 2018 class? Let us know in a comment below, via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
