In the latest TWAB, Bungie fired up the engine of its hype machine for the cryptic and forthcoming stopgap content patch, Into the Light. Destiny 2 is sorely lacking in content and this could be the patch in the hull that stops this ship from sinking.

When is ‘Into the Light’ coming to Destiny 2?

The only confirmed bit of information is that Into the Light will be released alongside Update 7.3.6 on April 9, 2024. Beyond that, more information will be made available during three livestreams on March 19, March 26, and April 2 at 1pm ET.

Players will also be able to earn two new Emblems during the livestreams via Twitch Drops. Watching for 30 minutes will award “Those Held Dear” and watching for two hours will award “Echo Diamond.”

I…I’m so tired of this constant cycle of Bungie trying to build hype and then the playerbase being ultimately disappointed due to lackluster content. Into the Light is being thrown together to placate players due to The Final Shape delay. If it’s anything like what we got with Beyond Light which was also the product of delaying The Final Shape, then I don’t have high hopes.

What can be gleaned from the promotional art are new outfits for each class (likely Eververse) and a new Weapon Ornament for Falling Guillotine.

Beyond that, the remaining Hive forces have invaded the Last City alongside a fleet of empty Pyramid Ships. With support from Cabal turrets, I’d suspect we’re getting some form of Horde Mode.

There are plenty of rumors and leaks flying around, but since these can’t be verified, they’re not worth listing. We’ll find out more through controlled, drip-fed livestreams, as is the Destiny 2 way, starting next week.
