Film: What’s a Nice Girl Like You Doing In a Place Like This?

Today in “Consumed” is the first student film by acclaimed American director Martin Scorsese —What’s a Nice Girl Like You Doing In a Place Like This? It tells the story of a young writer who grows obsessed with a photograph that hangs on his wall. This student film contains the earliest traces of some of Scorsese’s signature style: unique narratives and a staccato tempo in editing. Overall a great watch, but it is just that — a student film.

Feeling: The beginnings of a budding master.
