THE RELEVANCE HOUSE AG Co-Founder German Ramirez Joins Global Thought Leaders at the World Web Forum 2019
German Ramirez, co-founder of the THE RELEVANCE HOUSE AG, hosted and moderated a fascinating series of discussions on blockchain at the World Web Forum in Zurich last week (January 17–18, 2019). Each year, the World Web Forum brings together some of the most distinguished thought leaders in industry, academia, science and art to exchange ideas in an open environment. The event has an estimated print reach of 4.9 million people and is attended by 1,500 guests, 85% of whom are C-level business executives.
Day 1 included a discussion entitled “Crypto Assets: Master or Servant?” which brought together renowned financial leaders from both the blockchain space and the traditional financial sector. The speakers included Matt Higginson of McKinsey, Ted Rogers of Xapo, Zeeshan Feroz of Coinbase, and Andrea Maechler of the Swiss National Bank. The panel engaged in an absorbing debate which provided a nuanced and rounded perspective on crypto finance in 2019. Other highlights included talks by Utopia Music CEO Mattias Hjelmstedt, who explained how his firm’s new platform is harnessing blockchain technology to build a better music industry, and by Günther Dobrauz of PricewaterhouseCoopers, who discussed the interplay of innovation and regulation in the blockchain space.
The second day examined the social and economic implications of blockchain. Dr. Paolo Tasca of University College London discussed its ability to decentralize governance structures and enable transparency in decision-making processes. Procivis AG CEO Daniel Gasteiger explored how the technology can serve as the underlying infrastructure to enable digital societies to flourish. Other highlights included a compelling presentation by Supa CEO Sabine Seymour on the significance of blockchain for millennial consumers and the fitness and fashion industries.
Later, German joined Oscar Neira of MoneyToday.ch to discuss the ways in which blockchain could disrupt the conventional economy in the coming decade.
