NFL Links

Ezekiel Elliott has been cleared by the city attorney in Columbus, Ohio of any domestic violence charges, but the NFL has yet to make any official statement on the matter. Hopefully this means they’re learning from their prior gaffes.

The NFL and Twitter have teamed up to create hashtags (plus emojis) for every team, ostensibly for use throughout the season while you’re live-tweeting your team’s highs and lows. Some are as simple as the team name, some are recognizable slogans, but some are a bit more questionable.

Longread of the Day

Annie Apple, mother of New York Giants rookie cornerback Eli Apple, will be blogging weekly for Sports Illustrated this football season. Her first column just went up, and it’s pretty great.

YAAAAAAS

We are (obviously) all about the female fan. It’s why The Relish was created. So when our friends at FanSided wrote this list of ways to tell if your fan outreach is sexist, we had to share it.

Awesome Photo of the Day

Yes, this is J.J. Watt in a Friday Night Lights T-shirt. (And his assurances are good news for this writer, who has the Texans defense on her fantasy team.)

Must-Watch Video of the Day

Okay, so it was created to promote her new athleisure line CALIA, but we’re still getting emotional at this video of Carrie Underwood going back to her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma, and talking to young female athletes. Especially because she and the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation are also giving $500,000 in grant money for the funding of girls’ sports. You go, Carrie.
