The All-Star Break Meets Heartbreak

Let’s all pause for a few days to let it sink in that Derek Jeter is married.

Time to take a break from baseball for the next few days, as the National League (mostly Cubs) and American League (mostly Red Sox) head to San Diego for the All-Star Game. Personally, we love the throwback Padres-inspired unis — but Twitter did not agree.

One thing Twitter did agree on was sheer heartbreak over Derek Jeter finally tying the knot. The 42-year-old, recently retired Yankee legend married 26-year-old model Hannah Davis in Napa Valley. These two have been dating for four years — but check out SportsNation’s Dating Diamond, showcasing Jeter’s famous girlfriends over the years, including Mariah Carey, Jessica Alba and Biel, and don’t forget ScarJo.

Back to baseball:

  • Want to know everything you missed in the first half of the season? Check out our highlights/lowlights of 2016 so far.
  • Here’s something we wished we missed: Twins fan shaves Eduwardo Nunez’s name into his back hair. Click here if you want to see for yourself, but consider yourself warned.
  • For the first time since 1979, the Chicago White Sox have turned three triple plays this season.
  • For ladies who love the long ball (why does that sound dirty?), tune into the Home Run Derby tonight at 8 ET on ESPN and MLB.com, and the All-Star Game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
  • And then feel free to do laundry or binge on “UnReal”: Today and Wednesday are the only days of the year where there are no professional-level games taking place.

One more thing while we’re talking San Diego: The Chargers’ geographical fate will be on the line in November when citizens vote on whether to build a new stadium downtown. If the initiative doesn’t pass, they are still considering a move to L.A.

If they decide to move to L.A., maybe they’ll get a reality show, too? The Rams just did. E! is producing a docu-series about six NFL families moving from St. Louis to L.A., called “Hollywood & Football.”

Hey, also follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
