Forget Netflix This Weekend — These Sports Movies Will Get You Off the Couch
The Relish Must List: Cool things to have, do, and devour — with relish, of course.
MUST-HAVE: Show your forever love of the GOAT, Muhammad Ali, with this and other (extra soft, hand-customized) chic tees ($39.95) from Roots of Fight.
MUST-GO: NFL training camps begin this week. Here’s a full guide to the where’s and when’s and very cool to-do’s for all 32 teams. (Bonus: You could even ride a bike like the Hasselbeck brothers.)
MUST-SEE: From Thursday through Saturday, the inaugural Women Sports Film Festival will take place in Oakland. The Festival screens documentary features and shorts that celebrate women in sports and “the filmmakers who bring their stories to the screen.”
I’m particularly excited to see “Lift Like a Girl,” about women in the sport of Olympic weightlifting; “Althea,” about tennis great Althea Gibson; and “Luchadora,” which dives into the life of Luna Mágica, a professional Lucha Libre Wrestling star.
Can’t make it to Oakland? Also try and catch ex-NFLer Steve Gleason’s raw, real documentary about his battle with ALS, in select theaters Friday. Get ready to have your heart ripped out.
