What’s better than winning a gold medal at the Olympics? How about winning the very first gold medal in Rio for the ENTIRE GAMES? Boom. Team USA started strong, with 19-year-old West Virginia University student Ginny Thrasher nabbing the gold in the women’s 10-meter air rifle event. Competition was stiff; Ginny was going head-to-head at her first Olympics against two women who had won gold at previous Games (Du Li of China won gold in 2004 and Yi Siling of China won in 2012) along with the woman ranked #1 in the world, Andrea Arsovic of Serbia. Underdogs are our faves, Ginny.

There’s a lot happening in Rio over the next couple weeks, so to make it all a little easier to follow, we’ll be recapping what happened the day before AND giving you the rundown on what to watch today every AM here on Medium and across our social channels. Stay tuned and stay informed with The Relish (we like you like that).
