Twitter bets, NFL bros + more
College Football Twitter Fun
This weekend was THE BEST EVER in the land of college football, and pro athletes are always eager to root on their alma maters. It’s even funnier when there are bets involved:
It got even better when Peterson realized that JJ’s brother TJ Watt followed in his elder sibling’s footsteps and is a linebacker for Wisconsin:
Peterson’s Arizona Cardinals teammate Tyrann Mathieu got in on the action too, and was clearly disgruntled at LSU’s loss:
JJ, on the other hand, was positively gleeful:
Shaq and Mathieu paid their dues, but Peterson is still waiting for his Wisconsin jersey to arrive:

Turns out TJ isn’t JJ’s only brother; their middle brother Derek Watt (a fullback) made the Chargers’ final roster, and the siblings will play in Houston on November 27. If that wasn’t enough, turns out Rob Gronkowski has a mini-me too: his brother Glenn is now a fullback for their hometown Bills, and as division rivals, Buffalo will face the Pats twice this season, on October 2 and October 30 (though the brothers will never line up against each other, as they’re both on offense).
In other roster moves, Justin Forsett is back on the Ravens almost as quickly as they released him, and after the Packers dropped guard Josh Sitton, he moved over to their division rival Chicago Bears.
World Cup of Hockey Updates
- Goalie Frederik Andersen suffered an upper body injury in an Olympic qualifier so will have to skip playing for Team Europe in the World Cup, but should be available for his debut as a Maple Leaf come NHL regular season.
- Team Sweden’s Henrik Zetterberg is also out of the World Cup with a knee injury, which meant the team had to find a new captain. But they didn’t have to look far: Zetterberg’s replacement will be Henrik Sedin, with his twin brother Daniel acting as alternate captain.

Serena Williams is our queen. She moved on to the U.S. Open quarterfinals with her 308th Grand Slam match win, passing Roger Federer for first all-time, and looked like the royalty she is while acknowledging the crowd:
Unfortunately, her sister Venus didn’t do quite as well, and was eliminated by Karolina Pliskova in an upset.
