Favorite Fan(s) of the Week: Cameron Esposito + Rhea Butcher

We are big fans of these two… as long as the World Series doesn’t break up their marriage.

I like sports a LOT, but what I really, really love are fans. I am a total creep when I go to games—peering under the brims of others’ hats, looking to see some tears of joy, muttering “oooo” under my breath when I catch feuding fans bust out the fisticuffs over who they’re respectively repping. When I knew who was heading to the World Series, I started the hunt to find two people to feature as Favorite Fan of the Week who love both teams. Never did I think I could find fans on either end of the divide who also just happen to be on the same team.

Rhea and Cameron at the World Series Game 2

Meet wives, comedians, and co-stars (in life AND in Seeso original Take My Wife,) Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher. Cameron is from Chicago and Rhea is an Akron native who is still riding the high from the Cavs’ win. So, yeah, you see where this is going. Thanks to the 2016 World Series, Cam and Rhea are a couple in crisis. Evidence A:

Okay, I kid. In reality, the love (of sports and for each other) is pretty palpable between these two.

Over email, Cameron explained the truth behind the Tweets:

“Five years ago if you told me we’d be legally married, at a Cubs/Cleveland World Series and about to vote for the first female president, I would never have believed you.”

“But go Believeland!” Rhea threw in for good measure.

I’ll be watching our Favorite Fan(s) of the Week’s Twitters as closely as I’m watching the rest of the World Series.

What is your first sports memory?

Cameron Esposito: Getting ’85 Bears starting line-up action figures as a gift from my parents when my little sister was born. The Richard Dent one was my favorite!

Rhea Butcher: Winning tickets to see Cleveland baseball for reading the most books in my kindergarten class.

What is your favorite sports tradition to celebrate with friends or fam?

Cam: Playing catch with my dad. We still do.

Rhea: Watching postseason baseball with my grandmother and my mom.

Name your favorite sports moment ever…

Cam: I saw Michael Jordan play baseball at White Sox training camp in Arizona with my family. He struck out. (Then he went back and won 3 more championships.)

Rhea: Watching the 2016 Cavaliers win the NBA Finals with my wife.

What sports figure (living or dead) do you want to have beers with?

Cam: I was OBSESSED with the US Women’s Swim Team at the most recent Olympics. Actually, female Olympians in general make me lose my mind. Such discipline and so many years of hard work without reward. I just love the dedication.

Rhea: I don’t drink, but I’d have a soda with LeBron James any day.

What is your walk-up song?

Cam: Queen, “Somebody to Love”

Rhea: T’pau, “Heart and Soul”

Bonus Q: How do you take your hot dog?

Cam: Chicago-style veggie dog—we served Chicago dogs at our wedding!

Rhea: Veggie dog with mustard, relish, onions.

Sports served up fresh in your inbox, on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Follow along!
