It’s no secret that America’s most popular internet cult has been in a state of disarray since Donald Trump lost reelection in November. Since then the milieu has been fighting its own implosion, resulting most notably in the January 6th insurrection.

A few Northern Nevada locals, including local lawyer Joey Gilbert, attended the events in Washington DC, although Gilbert said in a video post on Facebook that he never entered the Capitol building, he did speak at an event the same day. Gilbert attended the armed counterprotest to a Black Lives Matter vigil in June of 2020, some of which is featured here, and it is believed he was accompanied on the 6th by members of the Northern Nevada chapter of the Proud Boys.

The failed coup attempt had a sort of fracturing effect on Q’s followers. Some began to uphold the death of Ashli Babbit as a sort of martyrdom, seeing her as a righteous patriot who died for the cause.

Others were not so certain. Doubts began to spread about the events of the 6th, and whether it had been the work of their fellow patriots at all. Many, including Alex Jones who himself claimed to have helped fund the operation, began to claim that “Left-Wing Provacatours” had been the cause for the mess at the capitol.
