Now let us move on to our list, that might come as a big surprise to you if you are someone not much into cryptocurrencies. If you have no idea of what a cryptocurrency is and what we are talking about, then go check out our article on Basics of Cryptocurrency article.

A lot of them have been created over time beyond the infamous Bitcoin and some turned out to be totally ridiculous. Only the creativity of the human mind is a limit to how random it can get. We have divided this article into two parts, so that the top ones are explored in more detail. So, let’s get started!

#10 PIZZA COIN:

Quite an interesting name for an equally interesting cryptocurrency. People have actually made a separate coin just for the pizza’s we all love to eat. You can use this virtual token to buy and send pizzas anywhere. Well, what’s so special, that’s just like another bitcoin clone used for a different purpose right but the name and unique purpose fetches it the 10th place in this list

#9 THE SELFIE COIN:

If there is a Pizza coin, why not make one for selfies. Yes, selfie coin is a real thing. It’s targeted more towards the social media. These coins just exist somehow and probably not used much but intended for a future purpose. One may not find much about them on the internet as well.

#8 DENTACOIN

Well, you guessed it right from the name, The Dentacoin, first of its kind implementation of blockchain to improve dental healthcare facilities worldwide. Here, responsibility for one’s dental health is shared and interests are aligned between patients and doctors. Data of all the patients are stored in the system database and is updatable as well as secured. Patients and doctors have access to the information based on certain permissions. In the absence of long supply chains, transaction or treatment costs are minimal. Skipping the technical jargon, Dentacoin is a big thing for the dental healthcare industry.

#7 BANANA COIN

We have a coin related to pizzas, selfies, and even dentists. What next? Humans never run out of creativity, do they? And so, the Banana Coin was born. A group of professionals established the Banana Project in order to produce Bananas in Vientiane Province (Laos) to take the advantage of blockchain technology in addressing real-time business objectives. The project aims at improving or modifying the strategies concerned with producing and transporting bananas. Tokens will be created and by using Ethereum as the blockchain and they will be transferred based on the export price of one kilogram of bananas. Basically, a coin to be used in the banana industry.

Well, moving forth, things will get more interesting. Have you seen the doge meme before? That’s exactly what we are going to talk about next.

#6 DOGECOIN

Ever thought that a day would come when something that is technically a joke, an internet meme could become something huge and tangible? Well, guess what, we even have a cryptocurrency based on a meme! This list will be simply incomplete without the Dogecoin.

It is a more rapid form of digital currency in which we can have wallets installed on our computers, smartphones, tablets or websites. The tokens of the currency can be easily sent from one node to the other, very fast, maintaining the anonymity of the user. ‘Doge’ is basically a slang term for ‘dog’. Started as a joke, the media and people made it popular enough that now we have a car based on it, literally, a Dogecar! (a Ford racing car had the dogecoin logo that is ‘Shibe’ on the bonnet with the tag “DOGECOIN”).

#5 HOT POTATO COIN

This is a strange coin. Basically, a cryptocurrency that self-destructs after 30 days. Sounds bizarre right? Probably something people would love to use in the next mission impossible movie. The coin is literally a hot potato and if you haven’t guessed it yet, it doesn’t have any real-world use. The basic idea is simple, sell it for more than what you have bought and get rid of it before it self-destructs. Since it has no real use, it’s value will always be speculative, and people actually buy these tokens. It does have a prominent presence in the cryptocurrency market!

If you thought we have seen enough ridiculous stuff, you are wrong. The main ones are yet to come. The top 4 cryptocurrencies in our list will be dealt in a separate special article. Follow ‘The Research Nest’ and stay tuned for it!
