It just a matter of being yourself

How do you make an influence online?

Over the past three years that I spend creating and consuming content online, I understood one simple thing as a blogger.

“You don’t need many words to make an influence”

It means that blogging is not just writing posts with thousands of words that are intended to teach the reader something.

That is not what blogging really is.

Most beginners (like myself) start blogging with the default style of ‘7 steps this’ or ‘5 ways to do that’ sort of blog posts or we write ‘how to’ articles.

However, this is not always what your readers want.

The most valuable thing that you could offer through your blog would be ideas and inspiration. Your blog will be better when it is a place where you share your views and insights on things.

I am not telling you that you should not write how-tos and educational posts

But there are lots of similar stuff out there on the internet. If you are writing about how to start a blog, there will be thousands of websites out there teaching the same. However, there won’t be any other website sharing your views and ideas about the art of blogging or your insights into the craft.

Your views are yours, they are unique. So be yourself, don’t hide behind your words and try to seem the same as every other educator out there on the internet.

Don’t pretend to be anonymous. And most importantly don’t write like you are writing, just speak out the thing…

Again I am not telling you don’t teach anything.

It is 100% okay if you want to teach photography or writing or even a new language.

However, if you are starting a blog on photography, it would be better to share your views, insights, and experience with the craft than to sink into the ocean of uniformity and try making the same stuff like everyone out there…

What I am telling (or trying to tell) is this:

“Your blog should resonate with your voice and anything other than that would make it less exclusive.”

So don’t do that, be yourself.
