We are all changing in ways we can’t yet fully imagine.

The piece below was first shared with the Resonance community on March 27, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

In case no one has told you today, it is okay to not feel okay right now.

It is okay to feel grief, to feel anger, to feel fear. It is okay to not know. It is okay to not be “productive,” to feel overwhelmed, and to need help.

You are not alone.

Many of us have internalized the perilous pace of “business as usual” so deeply that we’re catching our bodies defaulting to those rhythms. But this is not a “business as usual” time.

Don’t forget to breathe, and to allow what is, in this moment, to be true. We are all changing — as you read these words — in ways we can’t yet fully imagine.

We are seeing individualism and its impacts crumble around us. Let us offer a gentle reminder that you have permission to relieve yourself, too, of its burdens.

In a time when so much feels uncertain, let us focus on what’s within our power: holding ourselves and each other with love, and making space for hope where we can find it. We can show up for one another in community, trusting in each other and in the wisdom and resilience of our ancestors…

Many of us participate in Resonance Network because we share an abiding belief in the dignity of all people, in our interconnectedness, and in the possibility of a world rooted in deep relationship, vibrant community, and connection to our planet. This vision remains steadfast, and in some ways, feels more possible as the power systems that have kept us disconnected from our humanity and each other are being forced to pause.

The work of creating the world we want has already begun, and we’re here to continue it alongside each of you.
