This specific brand offers three different sizes of small, medium, and large which all handle different amount of weight. The specific one I will be discussing is the medium one which can carry up to 6.6 pounds of weight, perfect for most DSLRs. The range of products that the JOBY GorillaPod is able to account for is truly one of the characteristics that makes it stand out from your ordinary tripod.

The JOBY Gorillapod is essentially a mini tripod. However, it possesses certain characteristics that make it different from any other ordinary tripod. The GorillaPod stands at about 1 foot tall and weighs no more than a couple of pounds. Its lightweight design makes it incredibly easy to handle and deal with.

Perhaps what makes this product especially special is the fact that the GorillaPod legs are flexible. In other words, the legs can be bent and moved in any desirable direction. This allows the user to be able to put the Gorillapod almost anywhere.

The GorillaPod can be attached to tree branches, rocks, and anything else that it can wrap its legs around.

Often times in the field, there is not always a flat surface or a place where you can put a traditional tripod. The GorillaPod gets rid of this potential problem. Your options in the field become extremely flexible, allowing you to get creative with different camera angles and placements.

The GorillaPod legs also possess a rubber grips, which helps it stay in place wherever it is set up. There is no worry that it will slide out of place or fall over.

The GorillaPod can be used like a traditional tripod as well, but all the shots will be low due to the fact the one I used only stands one foot tall.

There are a myriad of sizes available as the video above indicates.

Most Convenient

The JOBY GorillaPod mount might be the most convenient of any tripod I have used. The camera is attached by all small slide mount with a screw that hooks into your camera.

Once the slide is attached to the camera, you are able to effortlessly transition from handheld to tripod in the matter of seconds.

There is only one button to press, which releases your camera from the GorillaPod. It is reattached with the same minimal effort, as it slides back into place with an effortless motion. There have been many times in the field that I have needed to switch from tripod to handheld, which literally only requires pressing one button. The attachment slide also has a level bar. This nice touch allows you to easily determine the composition of your shots.

The last feature that the JOBY Gorillapod possesses is a small knob on the side that allows for panning and rotating shots. Although it’s not as efficient as your typical tripod, just the fact that it has this option is impressive.

Final Assessment

The JOBY GorillaPod is a cheap, well-designed portable tripod that every videographer should have in their equipment bag. It’s simple and extremely easy to use, which makes it perfect for use in the field. The fact that it’s extremely small and lightweight compared to all other tripods separates it from the pack. Its convenience and transportation rating should be at the highest rating. It is the ideal tripod for people who travel and move around a lot. It can fit in essentially any bag, or even your pocket. In conclusion, I highly recommend the JOBY GorillaPod for anyone making videos.
