A group of Christian students prays and sings in a small lecture room on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Intervarsity is a religious organization that offers students a sense of belonging and discovering who Jesus is.

Many colleges and universities provide faith organizations and have their own specific events, such as Bible study and retreats.

Encounter is a big group gathering and worship session which occurs every Thursday at 7 P.M., allowing Christian students, both new to the faith and having grown up with it, to feel a sense of belonging.

“I didn’t believe in Christianity, and the things in my life were not quite right until I converted to faith and Intervarsity was what helped me find that foundation,” one of the participants Douglas Pieplow said.

There are smaller gatherings of Christian oriented students during the week, when participants discuss the Bible while also getting to know each other.

“I am really passionate about seeing students connect to Jesus,” Jewel Potter, another frequent participant to these gatherings said.

“It’s not [just] about the prayer, service, and reading the Bible, it’s the change of heart and how Jesus has really changed my life,” a third participant, Esther Ro explained.
