Literati Bookstore and The Espresso Bar

As of today, The Espresso Bar, voted “Best Coffee Shop in Washtenaw County,” will officially become part of Literati Bookstore. Literati will oversee operations and management of The Espresso Bar and unify the once-separate businesses.
Literati owners Hilary and Mike Gustafson are committed to keeping The Espresso Bar the same place customers know and love. “Our goal is to unify the two businesses for a smoother building-wide operation,” says Mike. “What Sandy started with The Espresso Bar is truly special. On the customer side of things, not much will change. We’re committed to keeping the story going, maintaining The Espresso Bar staff, and continuing The Espresso Bar’s exemplary customer service model, quality product, and one-of-a-kind experience.”
Sanford Bledsoe’s comments on the change:
Life begins to pull me in new and different directions. It feels harder and harder to deliver on the promises this business has made, and the promises that I have made to it. To assist me in ensuring that those promises to my customers and staff are kept, Literati Bookstore has gradually begun to oversee operations of The Espresso Bar. The chain of command will be streamlined and simplified; problems will be resolved more quickly; change will be implemented more swiftly; and progress will be made more rapidly. This means a better experience for everyone involved. I truly believe that this change is the best thing for everyone involved with both businesses.
Jess Harmon, who has been a part of Washtenaw County’s coffee community for six-and-a-half years, will become the new manager at The Espresso Bar. “We are excited to be part of something bigger than before, and we look forward to seeing ourselves as one store with shared goals and interests,” Jess says. “I feel as though we are in an excellent position to improve our craft and develop our talents, and I’m eager for us to take advantage of all the new, wonderful opportunities ahead of us.”
