Summer of 2021 wasn’t easy. Just off cancer surgeries and radiation treatments, I found myself struggling. Nothing was happy. Each day was a marathon through medical issues and bills.

The physical pain was nothing next to the constant worry. Was I going to live? How long? What was the prognosis? Why couldn’t I get direct answers from my doctors? A situational depression settled in like an unwanted guest.

I don’t remember much from last year, but I remember a musician I started listening to. Someone who made me prick up my ears.

Enter Billy Strings

I play piano and violin, and in my band, I’m on a Nord Electro 6D 73 for keys and a Yamaha electric violin. I’m not a virtuoso, but I know the sound of good music, and I like Billy Strings.

Apparently, I’m not alone. Throw his name into your search engine, and he’s everywhere.

Winning grammies. On tour. Performing with famous people.

He’s considered a bluegrass player, but he crosses genres easily. His shotgun-delivered lyrics in “Dust in a Baggie” introduced me to his music.
