We all grow tired of the American Thanksgiving carols. Who can forget the amazing lyrics of Thanksgiving hits produced by Frank Sinatra, Mariah Carey, and Michael Bublè?

“I’m Fighting with Grandpa Over Turkey.” “No One Likes Cousin Izzy’s New Boyfriend.” “Can We Please Not Shout About Politics Over Pumpkin Pie?”

These songs warm the hearts of families across the U.S.

Actually, those tunes would prove a snug fit for the holiday’s festivities. The spirit of Thanksgiving — to acknowledge and offer thanks for all we’ve been given — doesn’t come easily when hustling between multiple dinners, or sharing a meal with relatives only seen at Thanksgiving.

But the truth is, no matter what life storms we find ourselves seeking cover from, we each have plenty of sunshine in our lives too. At times, we have to seek it out and intentionally acknowledge the good, but when we do so, the hardships shrink to a more manageable size.

We should have a treasure trove of Thanksgiving songs, but alas, I can’t even think of one. When phenomenal music writer Pierce McIntyre issued a “Thanksgiving” song challenge earlier this month, he challenged writers to think of our favorite songs of “thanks” or “giving.” I…
