There is no denying the successful path and exponential growth of music at the helm of technology, whether in commercial, technical or didactic terms.

Serving as “test subjects” for the music technological revolution of the 19th and 20th centuries, several analog inventions such as Thomas Edison’s phonograph (1877), records (a.k.a vinyls), the turntable, magnetic tape, Tascam’s 4-track cassette recorder, recording techniques and mixing consoles paved the way for the digital and computational world of the modern music era, marked by various commercial formats such as the MP3, Walkman, compact disc (CD), download and streaming services, sound manipulation devices such as music software and samplers, as well as technological instruments such as synthesizers, MIDI, among others.

These have enabled countless artists such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, The Beatles, Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno and Aphex Twin to expand their creativity in unimaginable ways, challenging the boundaries of studio sound recording, live performance and listening experience for
