Daniel Sewell (Danny Brown) knew he must become a rapper. No matter how long it took — he would make music his career. Danny Brown created music until he made his breakthrough. Danny’s determination came full circle at the ripe age of 30.

After his breakthrough in the music industry, Danny Brown's next goal was to make his best album. It took five years, but he released his best album and one of hip-hop’s best releases. Danny Brown didn’t reach his prime until he was at an age when most music creators falter.

Welcome to the 26th entry of the Weird Albums Series. WAS is a monthly review in which I discuss albums beyond typical music structures. Today’s album is Danny Brown’s 2016 LP, Atrocity Exhibition.

In each installment, I explain the album’s background, my thoughts, and the legacy. Then, I rate the album using the Beefheartian scale. Experimental music enthusiasts invented this rating system to describe albums that resemble Captain Beefheart.

A ten in the rating system means: “Hot damn, that’s weird!”
