On February 1, 2020, guitarist to one of the finest post-punk bands in the late ’70s; Gang of Four’s, Andy Gill (Andrew James Dalrymple Gill), passed away from an early COVID-19 infection. He was 64. Before his death, a year prior, Gang of Four was producing a collection to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Entertainment! One of, if not their best, albums. Gang of Four brought significant bands and artists who garnered influence by Gang of Four to make covers of Entertainment!

Once they got the okay, bands and artists began recording songs off different records, and the album shifted to acknowledge the band’s work in the last forty years. The album changed again to commemorate Andy Gill, his excellent production, and guitar work with Gang of Four with Andy Gill’s death. The Problem of Leisure*: A Celebration of Andy Gill & Gang Of Four, released on June 4, 2021. It brings together songs preform by major bands and artists from around the globe in various genres such as rock, pop, and techno. The collection features Tom Morello, Serj Tankian, Helmet, Gail Ann Dorsey, Flea, John Frusciante, and IDLES.

Every cover captures the intensity and fierce spirit of Gang of Four. No one…
